Marble Wallpaper from Murals Wallpaper

Deep Blue Clouded Marble Wallpaper by Murals Wallpaper

Morning everyone, how was your weekend? Over too quick, right? Well, there’s nothing we can do about that, but thought I’d pop by this morning to brighten your day a little with this fantastic marble wallpaper I’ve discovered from Murals Wallpaper (the same company that makes these gorgeous Terrazzo wall murals I featured a few weeks ago). Marble has been a big trend in interiors over the last few years. It started out with Carrara marble being a highly covetable material but as the trend matured we saw more colourful marbles taking centre stage. I wasn’t a fan if I’m honest, but now I’ve seen this stunning marble wallpaper I’m totally converted. Isn’t it just beautiful? What an amazing statement wall this would be. I’m particularly drawn to the pinky ones and blush pink is a big trend at the moment too so this would tie in nicely. By using these faux marble wallpaper prints you can add the class and elegance of marble to your home without the expense and hassle of sourcing real marble. Take a look and let me know what you think, okay? Read More…

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while now will know about my love of wallcoverings. Whether it’s wallpaper, decals, murals, tiles or artistic paint techniques of some kind, I’m always on the lookout for unique and interesting ways to decorate walls. One of the very first boards I created when I joined Pinterest was my Wonderful Wallcoverings board and it is one of my most popular to date. If you’re on the look out for some inspiration when it comes to jazzing up your walls then you might want to take a peek at my board. Enjoy!

Introducing Valspar Paint

Valspar Paint

You are all well aware by now that I have a slight obsession with wallcoverings and that includes wallpaper, tiles and paint. Now that we own our flat I can actually consider using wallcoverings rather than just pinning them on my ‘Wonderful Wallcoverings‘ pinterest board. Surprisingly though, despite my love of wallcoverings, I don’t really know that much about paint, or is that so surprising considering I’ve never been able to paint my home before? I’ve used Dulux paint in the past when we decorated Matylda’s nursery and I’ve painted some furniture using Farrow & Ball but that’s about the extent of my painting experience. So when I was contacted a few months ago by Valspar Paint, I had to admit that I had never heard of the company. But I was definitely interested to learn more about it and I was super excited to be invited to my local B&Q store in Torquay to meet with a Valspar representative who could tell me all about it.

Supersized Metro Brick Tiles

Topps Tiles Supersized Metro Brick Tiles

If I was going to describe my dream kitchen, these metro brick tiles would be somewhere near the top of the list.  I absolutely love the way that they combine elegant simplicity with a touch of retro style. Now I know these tiles have been around for quite some time and many people may think that they have been somewhat overdone, but that doesn’t stop me really appreciating the versatility of this urban style. It bridges modern and classic design to complement any traditional or contemporary setting from rural country cottage to city chic. I think it is an absolutely great way to add a pop of colour to a room or to provide a neutral backdrop against which you can display colourful accessories. They are just perfect for use in kitchens, bathrooms and hallways. These particular tiles are from Topps Tiles and measure  10 x 30cm, however smaller versions are available in 15 x 7.5cm or 10 x 20cm. What do you guys reckon? Do you loves metro brick tiles as much as me?

Lola Crest Wallpaper from Brennan & Burch

This week I wanted to show something a little different for Wallpaper Wednesday. Brennan & Burch is a surface design & lifestyle company that is widely known for its colourful and fantastical approach to design. Her illustrations have been licensed for use worldwide. Lisa can also be commissioned for commercial and bespoke projects.

These papers are not for the faint-hearted though. With bold colours and tongue-in-cheek designs, would you be able to live with such quirky wallpaper?

Muraspec’s Enchanted wallpaper has the WOW factor

WOW Enchanted by Muraspec

I haven’t had time to update the blog very much this month as I’ve got lots of deadlines to meet for various magazines and websites, plus I’m in the final stages of proofing the cookbook I’m editing. And if that isn’t enough I’m also moving house right now.

So whilst there has been no shortage of fabulous home and interior products coming onto my radar, I just haven’t had the time to feature them. But I really couldn’t wait any longer to tell you all about this brilliant new wallpaper from Muraspec.

Enchanted by Muraspec is part of the WOW wallpaper collection

Muraspec recently unveiled WOW, its new product concept, which stands for Web Only Wallcoverings. Available in addition to the regular design launches, WOW enables Muraspec to bring great new designs to market, faster and more frequently, allowing the company to better respond to the latest market trends.

My personal favourite from the collection has to be Enchanted, a beautiful paper inspired by Alice in Wonderland that captures the essence of fantasy. At first glance the paper appears to be an abstract array of graphic lines, but on closer inspection it becomes clear that the paper features an illustrative field of rabbits.

He was selected to exhibit at New Designers this year and his work was shown at Part I. Whilst I was unable to go see Anthony’s work in person at the Business Design Centre in London (I only went to Part II), I knew that I had to feature his work as soon as I came across it. So I put some questions to Anthony about his studies and his designs and  below you can read his responses.

Couture embroidered wallpapers by Claire Coles

Claire Coles Midnight Garden Embroidered Wallaper

Claire Coles produces the most beautiful wallpaper I think I have ever seen. I came across her work a few months ago but I just haven’t had the time to blog about it until now…shame on me!

Midnight Garden wallpaper by Claire Coles

Claire’s couture wallpapers are more than just wallcoverings though. They transform walls into individual works of art. She uses fragments of hand-sourced vintage wallpapers, which she layers and intricately embroiders with silks and leather to create a range of patterns and scenes.

Trove is a design house started by Randall Buck and Jee Levin featuring modern photographic wallcoverings. Located in New York City, the multimedia design firm has developed an innovative new wallpaper made from stone.

The paper is named Stoneground and is made from a combination of mineral powder (calcium carbonate) and non-toxic resin (PE). The environmentally friendly paper, which debuted at ICFF in New York this year, contains no wood products so no trees have been cut down in the manufacturing process. It also requires no water in the production process and thanks to the paper’s unique fibreless make-up, 20-30% less ink is required during the printing process.
