Giveaway : 4ft6 Monte Carlo Ottoman Bed

Beds on Legs Monte Carlo Ottoman Bed

As Christmas is almost upon us, I thought it was time to do my last giveaway of 2017. Where on earth has this year gone? I swear it was just a few weeks ago that we finished our garden makeover. And now I’m just preparing to put the Christmas decorations up and get the tree out. It might seem a bit late to some people but we have lots of December birthdays in our family so I like to get them out the way before we launch into full on Christmas mode otherwise the birthday celebrations get a little overshadowed. So we’ll be decking the halls after this weekend. In the meantime though, I’ve got this fantastic giveaway for you guys and one lucky reader will be able to give their bedroom a fancy pants upgrade. A huge thanks goes out to the kind team over at Beds on Legs who have kindly provided this great prize for me to give away. So read on to find out what exactly you could win and how to enter.

Naturalmat Organic Mattresses and Bedding

The Naturalmat Showroom in Topsham in Devon showcasing a selection of organic mattresses and bedding and a variety of beds

As you all know by now, I live in Devon and I really enjoy showcasing companies that are local to me. Back in July, I was invited to Topsham, just outside Exeter, to visit a company called Naturalmat that manufactures organic mattresses and bedding. It wasn’t the first time that I had heard about the company as I have previously written an article about them for Devon Home magazine (you can read it here). But it has been a few years since I’d heard from them and I was keen to find out what had been going on since we last spoke. What was really exciting though was the fact that I was invited not only to see the showroom, but also to have a tour of the factory where I could see the organic mattresses actually being made. This is something I love. I mean it’s one thing to see and experience a product, but I don’t think you can truly appreciate it until you understand how it’s made, especially if it is something that is made by hand. So needless to say I didn’t have to do much thinking before I accepted the invitation and headed off to Topsham. The fact that there were pastries being served for breakfast didn’t swing it for me at all, I promise!  Read More…

Limited Edition Stockholmsvit Bed from Hästens

Stockholmsvit Limited edition bed from Hästens

As you all know, this past year since becoming a mother I have really discovered the importance of getting a good night’s sleep. And as the long dark evenings draw in, my thoughts start to turn to early nights, snuggled up in bed with a cup of hot cocoa and lazy Sunday morning lie-ins. Not quite realistic for me at the moment but maybe in a few years time right? So for now I’ll just dream and imagine myself enjoying this cosy, snuggly time in a ridiculously sumptuous and luxurious bed that is way out of my budget. Well I did say I would dream and dreams are meant to be aspirational aren’t they? Luckily, the Swedish bed manufacturer Hästens has recently launched a limited edition version of its iconic blue and white checked bed, which will fill this role nicely. Read More…

Happy World Sleep Day!

Hastens Beds on World Sleep Day

So today is World Sleep Day. So I hope you all got a good night’s sleep last night in preparation! World Sleep Day, for those of you who don’t know, is an annual event that is organized by the World Association of Sleep Medicine (WASM) in celebration of sleep and it aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.

Research shows that we spend up to one-third of our lives sleeping, which is just crazy when you think about it. Sleep is a basic human need, like eating and drinking, and therefore it is crucial to our overall health and well-being. Lack of sleep or poor quality sleep is known to have a significant negative impact on our attention span, memory recall and learning. It can also lead to conditions such as obesity, diabetes, depression, anxiety and even psychosis. Therefore quality sleep is really important for ensuring that we have a great quality of life. And to get a good nights sleep you really need to invest in a good quality bed. But what does that mean?

Thinking outside the Boxetti

Boxetti closed

Boxetti in the closed position

Designed and created by Latvian designer Rolands Landsbergs, the Boxetti Collection is comprised of five separate modules, each driven by three basic design principles – functionality, advanced technologies and the contemporary aesthetics of minimalism.

Each of the modules is designed to achieve maximum efficiency by meeting the demands of functionality and suitability. All modules have the capability of being transformed into compact, solid blocks at the touch of a remote control button and when not in use they take up less space and hide their true functionality. Only when the modules are in use is their true nature revealed as bright orange audio visual equipment for example appears as if from nowhere.

Boxetti is produced by EL Studija which is a company owned by Rolands that specialises in furniture and the design of showrooms and exhibition stands.
