Our first full day in New York for BlogTourNYC was Wednesday 21st March and I was so excited about the day’s activities. Having met everyone either on the flight over to the States or at the welcome party the Tuesday night I was really looking forward to spending some more time with the fabulous group of bloggers and breakfast together was a great way to start the day.

But I was looking forward to finding out more about the brands that had sponsored our trip and I didn’t have to wait long as our first activity of the morning was a trip to the Poggenpohl showroom on East 58 Street. We attended a brunch hosted by our sponsors Poggenpohl and BLANCO who showed us their new products.

Christy Emens, Marketing Communications Manager for BLANCO introduced us to the new apron front Cerana sink. The first fireclay sink that BLANCO has introduced to the US market, Cerana is a unique reversible design that goes equally well in a traditional kitchen as in a contemporary one.

The versatile sink features two corner radius measurements: traditional rounded corners on one side and contemporary contoured corners on the other. The hard-wearing sink is made of natural material that is highly resistant to shock, heat, acid, discoloration and chips.

Poggenpohl’s latest edition to be showcased was the +ARTESIO kitchen concept designed in collaboration with Hamburg-based architect and designer Hadi Teherani. Ted Chappell, President of Poggenpohl US explained how this new product is not only a kitchen but an all-embracing spatial concept that blurs the boundaries between cooking and living.

In this flexible kitchen, the walls, floor and ceiling all fuse with the kitchen furniture. The functional arch, with its innovative ceiling element, integrates all of the elements necessary for lighting, ventilation and sound, whilst the wall panels, also provided by Poggenpohl, work on a 130mm grid designed to match the measurements of the kitchen units. The integrated shelving solution also means that the shelves can be positioned wherever the user sees fit and the taps can also be positioned on the wall.

A second kitchen that Poggenpohl unveiled was the Eric Ripert kitchen designed in conjunction with celebrity chef Eric Ripert. The kitchen embodies Ripert’s personal vision for a world-class restaurant kitchen reinvented for the at-home chef. Jam packed full of functional details for cooking and entertaining at home, the kitchen is sure to be a winner.

In the kitchen the cooktop is set further into the middle of the island unit allowing plenty of space to plate up food directly from the hob, which is flush with the work surface. This allows pots and pans to be easily slid off the induction hob and on to the work surface once cooking is complete.

The rubbish bins are cleverly stored beneath the work surface area so all food waste can be easily disposed of without moving away from the preparation area. The kitchen also features narrow pullout drawers and vertical cabinets that store all the essential ingredients and daily cooking utensils right at the cooktop where the chef needs them most.

Following the presentation of the new products from BLANCO and Poggenpohl we were invited to serve ourselves some delicious food that had been prepared for brunch. Obviously I wasn’t going to turn this down, despite having eaten breakfast not so long ago. And I can confirm it was very yummy indeed!

I would like to thank BlogTourNYC sponsors Poggenpohl and BLANCO for hosting this fantastic event and for introducing us to their new products. I’m sure you’ll agree that they all bring something rather exciting to the kitchen!
