The other day I wrote a post over on Freshome about the most fabulous lighting collection by Zenza. The lights, which are made from silver-plated copper,  have been punctured with thousands of tiny holes that create stunning effects when the light filters through them and casts shadows on the surrounding surfaces. I absolutely love those lights and how intricate and beautiful they are.

And then I stumbled across these Bud lampshades by Desinature, which, whilst they are nowhere near in the same league as the Zenza lights when it comes to craftsmanship or sophistication, I also find very appealing due to their simplicity. Bud is an elegant panelled lighting system made from six identical laser-cut birch plywood elements. Delivered flat-packed the wooden light is easily assembled in minutes and I think it would look great in a number of different interior design schemes.

What do you reckon? Could you see this lampshade in your interior?

  • These Bud lampshades from Desinature are ace. Yes, they are nowhere as intricate as Zenza’s but they are a lovely alternative for people on a budget. I think it also adds a summery feel to the household.

  • Wow, that sounds lovely. I wouldn’t have a clue where to get a copper toilet seat though. Have you tweeted the question. I bet someone on Twitter would know!

  • the view from underneath looks like a fashion logo – very cool, they would go in my dark copper downstairs loo… I went all out with copper tiles, chocolate coloured walls with an enormous sun mirror – need to find a copper loo seat though! Know anyone?
