It was at New Designers earlier this year that I first discovered the work of Ellen Thomas. She was exhibiting there along with many other students from Northumbria University. Her designs caught my eye as there was something a little unsettling about them but in a really good way. It wasn’t until I read the About section on her website that I fully understood where this feeling came from, and then I liked the products even more.
Ellen’s focus is on creating beautiful contemporary designs with added value encouraging the user to form an attachment with her work. In doing so she hopes that her pieces will be kept and cherished. Well I think she has succeeded. I love the contemporary twist she has given to these otherwise quite ordinary looking pieces of furniture.

Wow I love these stools – especially the little cow and milk bottle embossing underneath – such a nice little detail! :-)
