I absolutely love BBQ season. Now that we have a garden that is suitable for entertaining, we do it at every opportunity throughout the summer. Pretty much every time the weather forecast tells us it will be a lovely sunny evening, we call up our friends or family and get the wheels in motion. We keep the fridge permanently stocked with food that we can cook on the BBQ so that we can get the coals smoking at the drop of a hat.
There is just something so wonderful about eating outdoors. My husband loves cooking on the BBQ and he is very good at it. I love the social aspect of having guests round and our girls just adore spending time outside. Some of my best childhood memories revolve around BBQs at friends’ houses so I absolutely want my children to have those experiences as well.
I’ve been gradually buying equipment for the garden to make our BBQs more organised and effortless, which isn’t easy when you live in a first floor flat. It takes a bit of planning to make sure you’re not constantly running back upstairs every five minutes. Luckily we’ve had many many BBQs at my in-laws, who are in the same position as us, so we’ve picked up lots of handy tips and tricks for equipping the garden if you live in a flat which doesn’t open directly onto the garden.
One thing I’d really like to invest in is some proper crockery that we can use especially for BBQs. At the moment we’re using some old plastic picnic plates, which are great as there is no chance of breaking them, but I find they rather let the side down in terms of sophistication. I’ve actually got my eyes on the BBQ Passion Collection from Villeroy and Boch.
How perfect is this collection? If I went to a BBQ and was served up my food on plates like these I would be seriously impressed. I love the fact that there are little compartments to separate your foods and where you can put your sauce. In fact, they kind of remind me of the plastic plates that kids have, but a really posh, sophisticated version.
Just look at that sausage plate above. A plate for a single sausage! How very unnecessary and indulgent. But I just love it! Don’t you? I’m adding the BBQ Passion Collection to my lust list as we speak!
What do you think? Is the BBQ Passion Collection a summer hit for you too? Let me know in the comments!
