Keep Calm And Carry On

My new pictures in my home office

So, I’ve spent quite a bit of time recently on some new websites that I wasn’t really aware of so long ago. The first website is Pinterest, which is a kind of social catalogue or virtual pinboard that allows you to post collections of things you love, and “follow” collections created by people who have similar interests and tastes to you.

I’ve been avidly pinning for about two weeks now and I have compiled some really inspirational pinboards, which has also inspired me to introduce a new series for my blog. Every weekend I am now going to do a post showcasing some of the great finds that I pinned on Pinterest the previous week.

It was whilst browsing Pinterest that I came across photos of interiors that used photo frames in really interesting and quirky combinations, like this for example…

Now, one of the few problems with Pinterest is the fact that some images are pinned and then repinned so many times that it becomes impossible to know where the image actually originated. For example I know this image above was pinned from Apartment Therapy but I can’t find the link to the exact post…Sorry about that!

Anyhow, I’m deviating. The other site that I have spent some time exploring lately is Etsy, a vibrant, e-bay style marketplace full of fabulous, vintage, hand-made goods. And that brings me to the image at the beginning of this blog post. I wanted to put some nice white frames up in my home office (well ok it’s not really a home office, its more of an under-stairs nook that I like to work in) following the example of the photos I had seen on Pinterest so I ventured to Ikea and found the frames in the top picture.

Then I just needed some nice things to put in the frames. I quite like the Keep Calm and Carry on posters, but it seems that they are everywhere these days and I wanted something a little bit different. That’s when I consulted Etsy and found these gorgeous little posters from the Keep Calm shop. I knew then that I had to have them even if they did have to be shipped from the US.

And I must say I am quite pleased with my new pictures in my home office nook and my other half (who shall now be referred to as DJaert for the purpose of this blog – because that is his Twitter name) did a great job of putting them up for me. Just need to de-clutter my office now and maybe I’ll try to put a picture up of the whole space. Although it really is that small that I probably won’t be able to get a good camera angle.

So does anyone else have a particularly nice home office or work space? And how have you personalised it? I’d love to hear from you.
