Next up in the new series to introduce the fantastic brands that are sponsoring BlogTourNYC is BLANCO, the German innovator of finely crafted sinks and taps. I wanted to get the low-down on BLANCO and find out a little more about the story behind this great company. Luckily for me, and for you guys, Marketing Communications Manager Christy Emens agreed to answer a few questions and here is what she told me.

Can you please tell us a little bit about the company?

For three generations, BLANCO has quietly and passionately elevated the standards for luxury sinks, faucets and decorative accessories. Proud of its European heritage and award-winning German engineering, BLANCO is steadfastly committed to their tradition of high quality, innovative design and unsurpassed service since 1925. Today, BLANCO is the only supplier in the world to produce its own sinks from start to finish in three materials. Dedicated to quality without compromise, every sink is closely inspected many times before it receives the BLANCO name.

SILGRANIT sinks are by far the fastest growing segment in our line. These durable and colourful sinks meet a market need for affordability, design, quality and durability. Our sophisticated color palette makes it easy for consumers and designers to match countertops with sinks and we have free color tools on our website and through iTunes and Android for smart mobile devices.

What is it that sets you apart from your competitors?

BLANCO offers a unique combination of innovation, quality and design. Products that don’t just look good – but also serve a functional need in the kitchen.

What is your most recent product to hit the market and how was it received?

The Culina faucet is a runaway hit. It’s sleek look and magnetic hook up offer convenience and ease of use/maintenance. The faucet has won numerous design awards and press attention.

How did you get involved with BlogTour?

We have been partnered with Modenus from the beginning – believing in the portal’s power and concept to join designers and manufacturers in meaningful dialogue. We are delighted to grow this partnership.

What can we expect to see from you at BlogTourNYC?

We will be holding an exclusive BlogTour event to launch new products at the Poggenpohl Midtown Showroom in the Architects and Designers Building.

What are you hoping to achieve by sponsoring BlogTourNYC?

We want to give design bloggers a preview of new products to share with their followers. And to educate designers on the latest trends and new products in the sink/faucet category.

Modenus and BlogTourNYC are offering bloggers and their audience an inside view of what is new in design for 2012. We enjoy partnering with Modenus to help expand this communication. BLANCO is a cutting edge/innovative company – right at home with BlogTourNYC’s design vibe.

Can you tell us something that not many people would know about the company?

BLANCO has a long history of innovative firsts. We’re a quiet company and we really haven’t told our design story. But we win design awards year after year along with Apple, BMW and other design market leaders. Below is a list of some of our firsts:

–       First stainless steel sink to achieve a 10mm radius –STEELART®

–       The first to market colored hard composite sinks in North America

–       BLANCO’s pioneering MicroEdge technology with its virtual flushmount edge

–       The first integrated composting system – SOLON
