Now as you all know, I have a slight obsession with wallpaper…ok maybe that is an understatement, it’s more like a massive obsession if I’m honest. Today’s technology is really allowing wallpaper designers to push the boundaries further than ever before in terms of functionality, pattern, texture or embellishments etc. There really are some fantastic papers out there.
Usually for me, the crazier the paper the more I love it. However, when I came across the Hedonist Collection by De Angelis & Garner I really did find myself speechless. I really do not know what to make of this crazy collection. In fact I think it scares me a little and if I were a kid and had this in my house I think it would probably give me nightmares.

The collection stems from a collaboration between Marchella De Angelis – maverick artist, innovative interior designer and controversial award-winning hotelier – and Kate Garner, a celebrity cult photographer and member of 80s British new wave band Hayzee Fantayzee. (I’m too young to remember that particular band but you’re in for a giggle if you check out the images on google!)

The collection is based on images of performance artist Leigh Bowery, an iconic trend innovator and muse of Lucien Freud whose influence is clearly seen in the work of leading fashion designers such as John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood.
Perhaps they would look great in a retail environment or a showroom of some kind but to be perfectly honest I can’t imagine papering the walls of my house with this.
Here’s a couple more samples of the collection for you.

The late great leigh bowery. Wonder how he would have felt about being a wallpaper? Probably would think it was hilarious…
Ha probably. These wallpapers really do freak me out though!
I agree don’t think we’ll be using it on any of our sets any time soon – particularly the last one which appears to have middle-age spread. It is very cool though! (and you never know how these trends go)
