I’ve been meaning to post this amazing wallpaper for months but sadly it has sat gathering dust in my drafts folder. It wasn’t until I saw my friend Ashley Sutcliffe of Live Like The Boy mention that he was now stocking it that I remembered that I had wanted to share it with you guys in a wallpaper Wednesday post. Hurrah! I’ve finally got round to it! Don’t all pat me on the back at once okay? The Remixed wallpaper collection is the result of the unique collaboration between Arthur Slenk and the Dutch Wallpaper company NLXL.
Over 20 years ago Arthur Slenk found two boxes of handwritten music sheets that were previously used by an amateur orchestra between 1872 and 1941. The documents had been hidden away since that time and as Arthur began to meticulously inspect the individual pages he noticed all of the intricate details such as finger prints, ink stains, and signs of wear and tear. He sorted through all the pages categorizing them by their details before cutting them up into little pieces that captured all these intricacies and put them into separate envelopes. He then pasted the little bits of the sheet music onto a new document which was subject to critical examination and many corrections. After seven years of work, (yes you read that right, seven years!) Arthur had produced 144 letter-sized designs and considered his task complete. NLXL chose 8 of these designs to turn into a wallpaper collection which was created using new state-of-the-art scanning techniques which allowed them to capture the depth and detail of the paper clippings. I think you’ll agree that the result is really something quite spectacular. Let me know what you think of this great find in the comments.
