Pleated Beauty

It’s been a while since I shared a wallpaper post with you guys, but I’ve come across one that absolutely blew me away. This one is a really bold and distinctive illustrated wallpaper collection, which is perfect for all you travel lovers and adventure seekers.

Stina Wirsén is an illustrator and children’s book author and she has hand-picked eight fashion illustrations to form the ‘Travel the World’ wallpaper collection for Photowall. The illustrations depict haute couture and street fashion from various places around the world and I’m sure you’ll all agree the effect is breathtaking.

Wirsén’s distinctive and expressive style is marked by bold colours, minimalist curves, and vibrant lines. Each monochromatic design features
soft and sweeping movements that make up the powerful and dynamic line drawings. Each image pulses with life and movement and really draws the viewer into that particularly scene.

The elegant collection of illustrated wallpaper would fit perfectly in any modern home. I can imagine it working extremely well in a feminine bedroom or even in a dressing room if you are lucky enough to have one. But it could work equally well in a dining room or living room setting.

For me personally, Wirsén’s collection drums up a nostalgia for my time spent abroad as a University student. I spent a year in Paris in my early 20’s, and the ‘Coffee in Paris’ design really captures that sense of nostalgia I experience when I think about what it felt like to be young and free in the city of love.

On the whole, these designs really will appeal to anyone with a sense of wanderlust and a longing to travel. It’s almost like it could serve as a type of giant vision board on the walls of your home, inspiring you to take up every last minute travel opportunity that comes your way. It makes me want to bundle my babies and Mr Design Sheppard up and head off for a getaway to Europe to experience all the culture and history that the region has to offer.

Whether it’s the bright neon street signs of vibrant Tokyo, the classic Parisian cafés lining the French boulevards, the style-conscious city dwellers of Stockholm’s most familiar neighbourhoods, or the cyclists enjoying Amsterdam’s canal side cycle paths, The ‘Travel the World’ collection allows you to adorn your walls with beautiful custom-made artwork signed by one of Sweden’s most renowned illustrators.

So what do think? Would this travel-inspired illustrated wallpaper collection convince you to jet off on adventures to other countries?
